Marie Louise d’Orléans is a French princess and the first daughter of Philippe of France and his first wife Henriette of England.
She is also the Queen Consort of Spain.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Marie Louise d'Orléans was born at the Palais Royal in Paris. She was the eldest daughter of Philippe and of his first wife, Henriette of England. As a petite-fille de France she was entitled to the attribute of Royal Highness, although, as was customary at court at the Palace of Versailles, her style, Mademoiselle d'Orléans, was more often used.
Charming, pretty and graceful, Marie Louise, who was her father's favourite child, had a happy childhood, residing most of the time in the Palais-Royal, and at the Castle of Saint-Cloud situated a few kilometres west of Paris. Marie Louise spent a lot of time with both her paternal and maternal grandmothers—Anne of Austria, who doted on her and left the bulk of her fortune to her when she died in 1666; and Henrietta Maria of England, who lived in Colombes.
Marie Louise's mother died in 1670. The following year, her father married Liselotte of Palatine. All her life, Marie Louise would maintain an affectionate correspondence with her stepmother.

When Princess Palatine meets Philippe for the first time, she wants to get to know Marie Louise and her little sister Anne Marie d‘Orléans.
Season Three[]
Her uncle, Louis XIV of France wants her to marry King Charles II of Spain in order for him to secure his foothold upon Spain. Later she becomes the Queen Consort of Spain by marrying King Charles of Habsburg.

- However, Louis XIV decided to use Marie Louise to forge a link with Spain and forced her to marry the invalid Charles II of Spain, which belonged to the House of Habsburg.
