- Aniaba / Annaba was sent to France in May 1688 (so twenty years before he arrived there in the show), at the time of the arrival of the French on this coast west Africa. He converted to Catholicism, with Louis XIV as godfather.
- On August 1, 1691, baptized by Bossuet in the church of the Foreign Missions, sponsored by Louis XIV which he receives the first name (full name Jean-Louis), he takes advantage of the best preceptors , becomes an officer of a cavalry regiment with an annual rent of twelve thousand pounds, "the first black officer of the French army".
