Season One of Versailles aired on November 16, 2015. It based on the history of Louis XIV of France and the beginning of the construction of the Palace of Versailles from 1667 until 1670.
Plot[]
A year after his mother's death, 28-year-old Louis XIV of France begins his development of transitioning his father's hunting lodge Versailles into a grand palace to create a symbol of absolute monarchy in which he envisioned, and requests for the nobility to reside with him there. However, there are nobles and peasants who do not want his influence beyond Paris and seek to stop the construction at all cost, by means of highway robberies and murders. There is also a feudal war between the Spanish and the Dutch. With construction costs, conspiracies, and wars, the palace Louis dreamt of building will be paid in blood.
